Delhi Police detained several people amid protests organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against the Election Commission in the national capital. Among those detained was Yashaswinee Raje Singh, daughter of former BJP MLA Vikram Singh from Uttar Pradesh. She shared her distress on social media platform X, stating that police took her into custody while she was sitting in a park near Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. She added that she was being held at Keshav Puram Police Station. The incident occurred as Delhi Police tightened security ahead of the CJP protests.
The CJP had called for a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police made extensive security arrangements across the city and imposed several restrictions. Yashaswinee Raje Singh is the daughter of Vikram Singh, a former BJP MLA who represented the Fatehpur Sadar constituency in Uttar Pradesh. In June and July this year, she supported student protests over alleged examination paper leaks. The students had demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Yashaswinee supported the CJP campaign during those demonstrations.
