BJP Telangana president Ramchander Rao was arrested by police while attempting to march towards the Telangana Assembly on Monday, leading to tension in the area. BJP workers had been arriving in phases since morning as part of the protest, prompting police to detain several party leaders and cadres. As another group attempted to reach the Assembly, police took Ramchander Rao and several BJP workers into custody. A scuffle broke out during his arrest near Gun Park, creating a tense situation.
BJYM leaders and workers staged protests to prevent police from taking Ramchander Rao away. BJYM state president Ganesh Kunde reportedly climbed onto the police vehicle carrying Rao and was pulled down by the police. Several workers then lay in front of the vehicle, following which police dispersed them and attempted to move Rao from the spot. The confrontation reportedly resulted in injuries to several workers, with two allegedly suffering fractures to their hands. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police continued efforts to bring the situation under control as repeated protest attempts created heightened security around the Assembly.
