The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala and West Bengal. In Kerala, the party released the names of 47 candidates for the first phase of the elections, marking the beginning of its campaign in the state.
For West Bengal, the BJP declared 144 candidates in the first phase. Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari will contest from two constituencies in the state. He is once again set to face Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, in what is expected to be one of the most closely watched contests of the election.
