

A tragic incident occurred at the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday morning, where a stampede-like situation claimed the lives of seven devotees and left more than a dozen others injured. The incident took place around 6:45 am as thousands of devotees gathered at the Shiva temple to offer prayers and perform Jalabhishek on the third Monday of the holy Shravan month.
According to preliminary information, panic spread among devotees after an electric wire reportedly fell near the crowded area. As people rushed to safety, the heavy crowd surged and a section of the barricading gave way, causing several devotees to fall over one another. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and directed officials to ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured. Lakhisarai District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar said the exact circumstances leading to the incident would be confirmed only after verification.
