Bihar Shows Interest in Telangana’s Agricultural Policies

Bihar Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha met Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao at the Secretariat and discussed cooperation between the two states in the agricultural sector. The talks focused on technology exchange, adoption of best practices and crop diversification. Thummala explained Telangana’s technology-driven initiatives, including weather alerts, crop booking, satellite-based crop monitoring, the Agristack farmer identification system, a urea booking application and the AI-based ‘Krishivas’ crop monitoring system.

Thummala also highlighted various farmer welfare initiatives, including Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima, farm loan waivers and bonuses for fine varieties of paddy. He said Telangana is promoting crop diversification through crops such as maize, pulses, soybean, mango, red chilli, turmeric and oil palm. Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar Sinha explained Bihar’s agricultural policies, noting that 91% of farmers in the state are small and marginal farmers and 77% of the population depends on agriculture. He also spoke about crop clusters and technology-based farming initiatives.
