Big Relief for Chandrababu in Assigned Lands Case

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister P. Narayana have received major relief from the Supreme Court in the assigned lands case. The apex court dismissed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by YSRCP leader Alla Ramakrishna Reddy and upheld the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s decision to quash the case.

The Supreme Court said there were no valid grounds to interfere with the High Court judgment. The bench also agreed with the High Court’s observations that the case appeared to have been filed with political vendetta. It noted that decisions relating to capital land pooling and the issuance of government orders were policy decisions. The court observed that political rivals cannot sustain such proceedings when no affected individual has approached the judiciary. The Supreme Court also advised against using courts as platforms for political vendetta and closed the proceedings arising from the FIRs registered by the CID during the previous YSRCP government.
