The Union Cabinet has taken key decisions regarding Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Kharif crops, providing major relief to farmers across the country. The government approved a significant increase in MSP rates with an estimated financial outlay of ₹2.60 lakh crore. Officials stated that the revised prices were fixed by adding 50 percent over the cost of production to ensure better returns for farmers.
Under the revised rates, the MSP for paddy has been fixed at ₹2,441 per quintal, while Grade-A paddy will receive ₹2,461 per quintal. The decision is expected to encourage agricultural production and strengthen farmer incomes during the upcoming Kharif season.
