A 42-year-old lawyer, identified as Manjunath, was allegedly shot dead following a dispute over unpaid rent in Pattandur Agrahara, within the limits of Bengaluru’s Whitefield Police Station. According to police, two young men were renting a house owned by Manjunath but had reportedly failed to pay rent regularly for some time. An argument broke out between the landlord and the tenants on Sunday night over the pending rent. As the dispute escalated, one of the accused allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Manjunath in the head at close range. He died at the scene from his injuries.
The two suspects reportedly fled immediately after the shooting. Police said preliminary information indicated that both men worked as delivery workers. After receiving information about the incident, Whitefield police reached the scene, gathered evidence and began an investigation. Special teams have been deployed to locate and arrest the suspects. Although investigators suspect that the rent dispute was the main motive, police said they are examining other possible angles as well. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
