Bathukamma celebrations were held with enthusiasm at the Panchayat Raj Commissioner’s office in Khairatabad. Telangana Minister Seethakka attended the event as the chief guest, along with Panchayat Raj Commissioner Divya Devarajan and a large number of women employees. During the celebrations, the women warmly welcomed the minister by applying a traditional tilak and presenting her with clothes. Seethakka also participated in Bathukamma celebrations organised at Gandhi Bhavan. She said the festival was being celebrated across Telangana on a grand scale with the support of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She also highlighted the achievement of securing a Guinness World Records recognition through Bathukamma celebrations, describing it as a proud moment.
Minister Seethakka said Bathukamma represents the self-respect and cultural identity of Telangana women. She noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants women to progress from a position of dependence to one of leadership and authority. She stressed the importance of preserving the culture, traditions and way of life passed down by previous generations. The festival, which involves worshipping nature and water bodies with flowers, strengthens bonds of affection among women and families. She added that Telangana women living across India and abroad also celebrate Bathukamma with great enthusiasm. While wealth and positions may come and go, she said, cultural traditions are difficult to restore once lost. She further stated that the government is constructing self-respect buildings for women to promote their dignity and empowerment.
