The Builders Association of India has announced a Contractors’ Maha Sabha on June 18 in Hyderabad, citing non-payment of pending bills by the government. Former BAI vice-president DVN Reddy stated that bills worth nearly ₹20,000 crore have been pending for the last three years, severely impacting contractors across the state.
He alleged that several contractors were forced into financial distress after completing works by taking loans, with some reportedly suffering heart attacks and others even dying by suicide due to unpaid dues. The association said the upcoming meeting will decide the future course of action and intensify pressure on the government to release the pending payments.
