A premium CTC tea from Assam’s Sonitpur district, Deckiajuli Tea, created a new record at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) by fetching an impressive price of Rs 800 per kilogram. The achievement reflects the increasing global demand and premium market value of Assam Tea. Deckiajuli Tea is owned by Parry Agro Industries Limited, which operates under the Murugappa Group.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the achievement on social media and stated that Assam Tea is continuing to set new global benchmarks. He added that the state government remains committed to strengthening Assam’s iconic 200-year-old tea industry through focused initiatives and policy support. The record auction price is being seen as a major boost for Assam’s tea sector and international reputation.
