

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy at his residence in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the development of Assam's coal and mining sector. The meeting focused on new coal production projects, mineral exploration, efficient utilization of natural resources, and opportunities to attract investments into the sector. Both leaders also reviewed strategies to accelerate the state's mining-related development.
During the meeting, the Assam Chief Minister highlighted several issues concerning the coal and mining sector in the state and sought the Centre's support in resolving them. Responding positively, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy directed the concerned officials to examine the issues on priority and ensure timely action. He reiterated that the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to the holistic development of the Northeastern states by strengthening infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and the sustainable utilization of natural resources.
