Ashoka Chakra for Smith Machar.. Shiv Sena MP Writes to PM Modi

A Shiv Sena MP has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the Ashoka Chakra, one of India’s highest peacetime gallantry awards, for Flydubai pilot Smith Machar. The MP said Machar’s presence of mind during an emergency helped save the lives of 174 passengers and deserved national recognition.

Machar’s courage and quick thinking have reportedly been praised by US President Donald Trump, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The demand for the Ashoka Chakra has now gained attention after the Shiv Sena MP formally wrote to the Prime Minister.
