A special voter verification drive has begun in Andhra Pradesh as part of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door verification from October 8 to recheck the status of voters whose names were not included in the draft roll. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that eligible voters are not left out of the electoral list.
During the earlier enumeration process, 44.89 lakh electors were reported as not found at their registered addresses due to reasons including death, permanent shifting, multiple enrolments and untraceability. If an eligible voter is found to have been removed inadvertently, BLOs will facilitate the submission of Form 6 for inclusion, subject to verification. The final electoral roll for Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to be published on October 16, while the claims and objections process continues until October 10.
