The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to make several essential commodities available to eligible consumers at subsidised prices through the state’s ration shops. Along with rice, beneficiaries will soon be able to purchase tur dal, sugar, wheat flour and palm oil at concessional rates. The Centre has allocated 1.20 lakh tonnes of tur dal for the initiative. The move is aimed at making essential food items more affordable for households amid rising prices.
The government is also providing onions at a subsidised price of Rs 35 per kg through Rythu Bazaars across the state. Each family can purchase up to two kg of onions per month under the scheme. Consumers can avail themselves of the subsidised onions by producing either a valid ration card or Aadhaar card. The measures are part of the state’s efforts to make essential commodities available to consumers at affordable prices.
