AP Local Elections: SEC Ready, Final Preparations Underway!

Preparations for local body elections in Andhra Pradesh are moving forward, with the State Election Commission working on the required electoral processes. The government has been carrying out ward delimitation and voter-list preparation in urban local bodies. According to recent reports, ward-wise electoral rolls were being prepared for 41 ULBs, while the reservation process is also being taken forward.

A key legal issue remains pending before the Andhra Pradesh High Court. On September 25, the court reserved its verdict on a petition filed by the YSR Congress Party concerning the electoral rolls to be used for the local body elections. The SEC has stated that it proposed using the electoral roll available as of January 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the final election schedule and polling dates are yet to be officially announced.
