AP Green Committee Targets 50% Green Cover by 2047: Nagababu

AP Green Executive Committee Chairman Nagababu said the state government is aiming to increase green cover to 50% of its total geographical area by 2047. He made these remarks after assuming charge as the committee chairman at Aranya Bhavan in Mangalagiri. Nagababu expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for entrusting him with the responsibility.

Nagababu said the current forest cover in Andhra Pradesh stands at 22.96% and stressed the need to expand forest and tree cover across the state. He said the AP Green initiative would extend beyond forests, with plantations and greenery encouraged in agricultural lands, villages, urban areas, along major roads and canals, institutional premises, industrial surroundings and suitable barren lands. He added that large-scale plantation drives and garden development would be promoted to create a healthier environment for future generations.
