AP Government Clarifies BC Reservations in Local Body Elections

The Andhra Pradesh government has clarified the reservation percentages for Backward Classes (BCs) in the upcoming local body elections. According to the details announced, BCs will receive 35.29% of seats in mayoral elections, 33.02% in municipal chairperson elections and 32.78% in urban wards. At the gram panchayat level, BCs will be allocated 26.73% of ward seats and 27.95% of sarpanch posts.

For Mandal Parishad President (MPP) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections, the BC reservation has been set at 24.6%. BCs will receive 23.08% of seats in Zilla Parishad chairperson elections. The government has also stated that the overall party-wise reservation for BCs will be 34%. The election notification is expected to be issued at any time, according to the information provided.
