The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has taken several important decisions benefiting government employees. The Cabinet approved an increase in the retirement age of employees working in public sector undertakings, residential educational institutions, and societies from 60 years to 62 years.
The Cabinet also approved the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for nearly 11,000 employees who were recruited through notifications issued before 2004 under Memo No. 57. This long-pending issue has finally been resolved, bringing relief to thousands of employees across the state.
Employee associations welcomed the decision and thanked the government. The CPS Association stated that nearly 11,000 employees would benefit from the move. APNGO president Vidyasagar said the Cabinet decisions fulfilled the dreams of employees and also noted that the regularization process for around 8,000 contract employees has begun.
