AP Government Agrees to Increase Junior Doctors’ Stipend

The Andhra Pradesh government has agreed to increase the stipend of junior doctors by 5%. Junior doctors had demanded a 15% hike, but the government approved a 5% increase. The stipend for interns will be increased by 5% from January 1, 2026. Thereafter, the stipend for junior doctors will be increased by 3% every year.

The government has also decided to provide a 3% annual increase in the stipend for postgraduate and super-speciality students. Following the decision, the government has urged junior doctors to immediately return to duty.
