The proposed BPCL refinery project in Andhra Pradesh has received environmental clearance, paving the way for further progress on one of the state’s major industrial investments. The project, estimated to cost more than Rs 1 lakh crore, is planned near Ramayapatnam in the state. The refinery will be developed across approximately 5,200 acres.
The facility is planned with an annual refining capacity of 9 million metric tonnes. It is expected to manufacture petroleum products such as petrol and diesel along with petrochemical products, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s industrial and energy infrastructure. BPCL is also planning to develop a green belt covering around 30% of the project area as part of its environmental measures.
