A small Mumbai eatery named Delhi Se, which was once on the verge of shutting down with around ₹18 lakh in debt, has reportedly undergone a remarkable turnaround. The first boost came in 2022 after comedian Abhishek Upmanyu visited the Chembur restaurant and recommended its chole bhature. The eatery later came to Anushka Sharma’s attention, following which she ordered chole bhature for her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli. Her public praise for the food brought a significant surge in customer interest.
Delhi Se originally operated from a 250-square-foot outlet with three tables and nine seats in Chembur. According to its owners, the business has since expanded to four outlets across Chembur, Mulund, Andheri West and Vashi. They said monthly sales, which were earlier around ₹1–1.5 lakh, have now reached approximately ₹2 crore. The restaurant also reportedly sells more than 3,000 plates of chole bhature every day across its outlets.
