Panama was struck by another earthquake on Monday, with a magnitude of 6.0 recorded on the Richter scale. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the tremor occurred at a depth of approximately 35 kilometres. The latest earthquake has raised concerns in the country, which is still recovering from a powerful seismic event that occurred last week.
A major earthquake measuring 7.7 in magnitude struck Panama last Friday, reportedly causing extensive damage to buildings. Around 900 buildings collapsed, and 27 people sustained serious injuries, although no fatalities were reported in the initial accounts. Nearly 300 aftershocks were recorded following the main quake. The government declared a state of emergency and launched relief operations. Officials estimated that the provinces of Los Santos, Coclé and Herrera were among the worst-affected areas.
