The investigation into the high-profile Ankita Bhandari murder case has reached a significant stage, with a special CBI court in Dehradun issuing a summons to Urmila Sanawar, wife of former MLA Suresh Rathore. According to the details provided, she has been directed to appear in person before the court at 10:30 a.m. on October 23, 2026. The court is seeking clarity on whether she voluntarily consents to undergoing a polygraph test and narco-analysis as part of the investigation. Her personal appearance is intended to help the court establish her position without any pressure, threats or outside influence. The proceedings are linked to a CBI FIR registered under Sections 238, 249 and 45 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Urmila Sanawar reportedly drew public attention in December 2025 after releasing videos on social media in which she made claims about the identity of a person referred to as a “VIP” in an audio recording allegedly connected to her husband. Her statements triggered political controversy in Uttarakhand and intensified demands for a CBI investigation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami subsequently recommended a CBI probe. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also joined Ankita Bhandari’s parents in a protest in Delhi. The CBI has reportedly questioned former MLA Suresh Rathore for around three hours. The latest summons to his wife has added another development to the ongoing investigation.
