The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2024 report has revealed alarming trends in Andhra Pradesh, with the state recording the highest number of fake news cases linked to social media. According to the report, 203 fake news cases were registered in Andhra Pradesh during 2024, while neighboring Telangana reported 139 cases.
The report also highlighted a sharp rise in cybercrime and violent offences in Andhra Pradesh. A total of 2,528 cybercrime cases were registered in 2024, marking an 8% increase compared to the previous year. Overall, 11,06,076 criminal cases were reported in the state. Andhra Pradesh also ranked third in human trafficking cases, raising serious concerns over law and order and digital safety.
