Andhra Pradesh to Be Developed as an Aviation Hub - Ram Mohan Naidu

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu said steps were being taken to expand India’s aviation infrastructure as part of the long-term vision of having 350 airports by 2047. He said Andhra Pradesh was being developed as an aviation hub by linking flight training institutions, aviation universities and allied organisations to create a comprehensive aviation ecosystem. At Kurnool’s Orvakal airport, Naidu, along with ministers T.G. Bharat and B.C. Janardhan Reddy, MP Bastipati Nagaraju and MLA Gauru Charitha, unveiled the foundation plaque for the state’s first Orient Flights Aviation Academy and flagged off two training aircraft.

Naidu said the government was expanding Flying Training Organisations to meet the growing demand for skilled aviation professionals. He said additional FTOs were planned in Andhra Pradesh, including Kurnool, Kadapa and Rajahmundry, while an aviation university was being planned at Bhogapuram. The minister also said the government was examining the use of indigenously developed HANSA-NG aircraft for training in the state and announced plans for regional DGCA and Quality Council of India offices in Kurnool. He added that an FTO ranking system was being used to help students identify institutions based on training standards.
