The Andhra Pradesh government has stepped up precautionary measures following the rise in Ebola virus cases reported in parts of Africa. Health authorities have decided to conduct medical screening for passengers arriving from Congo, Uganda and Sudan. Special monitoring arrangements have been put in place at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada airports to prevent the possible spread of the virus into the state.
State Health Minister Satya Kumar has issued special instructions to officials across all districts, directing them to implement necessary preventive measures immediately. Authorities have also been asked to closely monitor ports and road entry points in addition to airports. The minister stated that individuals showing symptoms associated with the Ebola virus will be placed under quarantine as a precautionary step.
