Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that a future US president could adopt an anti-Israel stance, urging officials to strengthen strategic partnerships with powerful countries such as India and nations across Latin America. According to local media reports, Netanyahu made the remarks ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27. He suggested that an individual hostile to Israel could assume the US presidency within the next two years, regardless of whether the person is a man or a woman. Netanyahu stressed the need to prepare for a potential shift in Washington’s policies while making the most of the current administration under President Donald Trump. He also called for strengthening Israel’s position and securing as much cooperation as possible from the United States during the remaining period.
Netanyahu said Israel must expand its international partnerships and build stronger alliances to safeguard its interests against possible changes in US policy. Describing India as a significant global power, he also pointed to potential developments in Latin America and Brazil as opportunities for broader cooperation. He urged officials to increase the number of strategic alliances and develop capabilities that would enhance Israel’s international standing. However, Gadi Eisenkot, one of Netanyahu’s main political rivals, criticised the remarks ahead of the elections. He accused the prime minister of attempting to create fear among Israeli voters by invoking other countries and portraying future international developments as a threat.
