The annual Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended from today due to adverse weather conditions, officials announced. As a precautionary measure, the pilgrimage has been halted on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes to ensure the safety of devotees. Authorities stated that the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing weather situation.
Despite the temporary suspension, the pilgrimage has witnessed a massive turnout this year. So far, nearly 3.7 lakh devotees have visited the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine and offered prayers to the naturally formed ice Shivling. Officials have advised pilgrims to follow weather updates and wait for further instructions before resuming their journey.
