Ajit Doval Heads to China for Key Border Talks

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval is travelling to China on Monday for the 25th round of India-China Special Representatives talks on the boundary issue. Doval, India’s Special Representative, will meet Chinese Foreign Minister and Special Representative Wang Yi in Beijing on August 25. The mechanism, established in 2003, is aimed at finding a framework to resolve the 3,488-km India-China boundary dispute.

The talks are expected to focus on maintaining peace and stability along the border, managing the boundary issue and further improving bilateral ties. During the previous round in New Delhi last year, both sides agreed on the need for a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable framework for resolving the boundary question, based on the 2005 agreement on political parameters and guiding principles.
