Airstrikes Along the Pakistan–Afghanistan Border

Pakistan on Monday said that 29 people were killed in airstrikes along the Afghanistan border. However, Afghan authorities reported that 36 civilians were killed and around 160 others were injured in the same strikes. Pakistan stated that the operation targeted militant hideouts in response to a terrorist attack on the paramilitary Rangers headquarters in Karachi.

Following these developments, diplomatic tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have escalated. Both countries summoned each other’s diplomats to lodge formal protests. Pakistan alleged Afghan involvement in the Karachi attack and claimed Afghan territory was used for the operation, further straining bilateral relations.
