Airfares for domestic and international flights are set to increase from today following an increase in the fuel surcharge. The revised charges will add to the cost of air travel, with the surcharge varying according to the type of flight and, in the case of international services, the distance travelled.
For domestic flights, the fuel surcharge will increase by Rs 100 to Rs 350. For international flights, the revised surcharge will be based on the distance. Flights covering distances of up to 500 kilometres will attract a surcharge of Rs 375, while journeys between 501 and 1,000 kilometres will carry a Rs 600 surcharge. Flights covering 1,001 to 1,500 kilometres will have a Rs 900 surcharge, while distances between 1,501 and 2,000 kilometres will attract Rs 1,150. International journeys exceeding 2,000 kilometres will carry a surcharge of Rs 1,300.
