Air India has reportedly terminated more than 1,000 employees over the past three years for violating ethical and company conduct policies. During a recent town hall meeting, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson revealed that strict action was taken against employees involved in misuse of travel policies, theft of company property, and other misconduct. The airline stated that such unethical practices would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Campbell Wilson said some employees were caught allowing extra baggage without collecting charges and stealing items from aircraft. Hundreds of staff members were also found misusing the Employee Leisure Travel Policy by selling free tickets or falsely claiming non-family members as relatives to avail benefits. Air India conducted internal investigations and imposed penalties on those involved. The issue had earlier sparked major discussion within the aviation sector. Air India currently employs around 24,000 people.
