Afghanistan has carried out drone strikes targeting ISIS bases in Pakistan, including a joint ISIS center in the Saranan area of Pishin district in Balochistan. The Afghan authorities stated that the attacks were in retaliation for Pakistani strikes on eastern Afghanistan a day earlier. They claimed several Islamic State members were killed in the operation and warned that no threat to national security would be spared.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan military said it intercepted four drones launched from Afghanistan and recovered debris near a government school in Saranan. It warned the Taliban regime of severe consequences if such provocations continue. Pakistan rejected Afghanistan’s allegations that ISIS militants were using its territory for attacks and also denied reports of casualties from the drone strikes, accusing Kabul of spreading misinformation and promising a strong response.
