Adulterated Sweets Create Alarm Ahead of Raksha Bandhan..

Authorities have intensified inspections against adulterated food products ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival. In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, food safety officials raided a warehouse in Biharipur under the Vijay Nagar police station limits and seized nearly 10 quintals, or 1,000 kg, of prepared chhena rasgullas. Officials found that adulterated paneer, sugar and chemicals such as ‘Sefolite’ were allegedly used in their preparation. Four samples were collected and sent to a laboratory for testing, while the seized sweets were disposed of as per regulations. The operator’s licence was cancelled and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, officials destroyed 868 kg of paneer and 170 kg of khoa during inspections at several dairy establishments in Ghaziabad on August 14. The FSSAI said nationwide action against food adulteration is continuing. In Uttarakhand, special inspections were also carried out across all districts for a week following directions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Officials collected samples, destroyed spoiled and expired food products, issued notices to businesses violating regulations and took action against sellers operating without licences. Authorities are expected to intensify checks as demand for sweets and dairy products rises during the festive season.
