AAI Gives Green Signal for Mamnoor Airport Development

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has granted in-principle approval for the development of the Warangal Mamnoor Airport in Telangana, with an estimated cost of ₹496.86 crore, including GST. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol shared this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. Tenders have already been issued for key infrastructure works such as the runway, apron, taxiway, and boundary wall. The timeline for completion and commencement of flight operations will depend on factors like land acquisition, statutory clearances, funding, and local conditions.

Meanwhile, the central government confirmed progress on proposed airports in Adilabad and Peddapalli districts. A techno-economic feasibility study has been completed for Adilabad as a joint-user airfield, while a preliminary feasibility report for a greenfield airport in Peddapalli was submitted in February 2026. However, the proposed site in Bhadradri Kothagudem was found unsuitable due to obstacles such as hills and a railway line. Additionally, under the UDAN scheme, 58 flight routes have been operationalized in Telangana to boost regional connectivity, with the next phase aiming to connect 120 destinations nationwide.
