Devotional fervour was witnessed at the famous Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Temple in Arasavalli, Srikakulam district. An anonymous devotee from Hyderabad offered jewellery worth approximately Rs 2 crore to the deity. The ornaments, specially designed for the decoration of the presiding deity, include a copper Makara Torana, silver crown, armour, armlets, ornaments, the deity’s feet, Sanaka-Sanandana armour, Mathara and Pingala armour, and an Ashwa Peetham. Temple authorities said the ornaments were given an attractive finish with gold plating.
The devotee also donated special armour, hand ornaments and other jewellery for the festival idols of the temple’s associated deities Usha, Chhaya and Padmini. Following special prayers on Tuesday, Sri Suryanarayana Swamy was adorned with the newly donated ornaments. Devotees who witnessed the divine decoration experienced a sense of spiritual joy. The anonymous devotee’s decision to offer such valuable ornaments without revealing their identity has drawn attention, highlighting the importance traditionally placed on devotion and faith over the monetary value of an offering.
