A major scare unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir after nearly 300 tourists were stranded mid-air due to a technical malfunction in the Gulmarg cable car service on Monday. The incident occurred at the famous Gulmarg Gondola, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region. Authorities said the cable cars suddenly stopped operating while tourists were travelling, leaving passengers suspended in the air for several hours and triggering panic among them.
Police, Army personnel and rescue teams immediately rushed to the spot and launched a large-scale rescue operation to safely evacuate the stranded tourists from the cable cars. Officials confirmed that all necessary efforts were being made to restore the cable car system and investigate the exact reason behind the technical failure. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also directed officials to intensify rescue and restoration measures at the site.
