20-Year-Old Youth Who Cleaned the Ajnar River

Twenty-year-old Surendra Singh Choudhary, popularly known as Bittu Tabahi, from Madhya Pradesh has drawn widespread attention for taking up the task of cleaning the heavily polluted Ajnar River on his own. He has been removing plastic, bottles, garbage and algae from the river, using his own resources and basic tools. Starting the initiative on January 26, Bittu continued his efforts despite the challenges, with videos and pictures of his work eventually gaining widespread attention.

His grassroots environmental work has now opened an unexpected international opportunity. According to a recent report, a Dutch CEO impressed by Bittu’s determination extended an invitation for him to work with the organisation. The development highlights how individual initiatives can earn global recognition and create new opportunities.
