

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have seized around 800 grams of gold jewellery allegedly being smuggled through Hyderabad’s Shamshabad Airport. According to the reported details, a jewellery trader from Hyderabad had travelled from Tiruchirappalli to Hyderabad on an IndiGo flight. Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials conducted a surprise check at the airport and allegedly found the gold jewellery in his baggage. The seized gold is estimated to be worth around ₹1.20 crore.
Following the seizure, DRI officials registered a case and launched an investigation into the alleged illegal transportation of the gold. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the jewellery’s movement and other relevant details as part of the probe.
