WhatsApp is working on a new ‘Send Later’ feature that will allow Android users to schedule messages in advance. The feature is currently being tested by a limited number of beta users. It is expected to let users prepare text messages, website links, photos and videos and have them sent automatically at a chosen time. The functionality is reportedly being developed for both individual and group chats, making it easier for users to send reminders, greetings and other messages without having to remember to send them manually.
The feature is also expected to let users review scheduled messages before they are sent and delete them if they are no longer needed. According to the available information, recipients will not receive a notification if a scheduled message is deleted before delivery. WhatsApp’s encryption protections are also expected to apply to the feature. For now, access is limited to Android beta users through the Google Play Store. WhatsApp has yet to announce when the feature will be rolled out to all users.
