Volkswagen–JSW Deal Talks

German automobile giant Volkswagen Group is reportedly exploring a strategic partnership with JSW Group to strengthen its position in India's passenger vehicle market. Sources said discussions are underway for a possible strategic investment in Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, with JSW Group likely to acquire a controlling stake. Talks are focused on company valuation, investment size, and future capital requirements.

Volkswagen has operated in India for nearly two decades and has manufacturing facilities at Chakan near Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The company has developed India-focused models including Taigun, Virtus, Kushaq, and Slavia. However, Volkswagen and Skoda together hold around 2% of India's passenger vehicle market. The proposed partnership with JSW could mark a major shift in its India strategy.
