Tata Motors is continuing to gain momentum in India’s electric vehicle segment. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, said EV bookings have increased threefold over the past six months. He noted that the company has been steadily improving its market share over the last two to three months and has widened its lead over the second-largest player. However, limited production capacity is making it difficult to fully meet the growing demand.
Srivatsa said increasing consumer confidence in Tata products and the company’s broad EV portfolio are helping drive demand. Tata is also expecting a strong festive season. He said the passenger vehicle industry recorded around 46% year-on-year growth in the June quarter, while EVs grew by 77% during the same period. The momentum continued through July and August, raising expectations that the September-December quarter could become one of the strongest periods for the industry. He also said the planned increase in car prices from September may not significantly affect festive-season demand.
