

Indian stock markets came under heavy selling pressure, with both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty witnessing a sharp decline during trading. The Sensex lost around 1,100 points, while the Nifty fell nearly 365 points. The markets remained weak from the morning session, with investors reacting negatively to developments following the Reserve Bank of India’s latest report. Trading on both major exchanges was down by around one percent at one stage.
During the afternoon session, the Nifty was trading around 22,357 points after losing nearly 245 points, while the Sensex stood near 71,947 points, down around 691 points at that time. The sharp decline reportedly wiped out nearly Rs 8.5 lakh crore in market value. Shares of ITC, Adani Ports, IndiGo, Power Grid and Reliance Industries fell significantly, with some declining by around four percent. In contrast, technology stocks including Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, TCS and Infosys gained around two percent, providing some support to the broader market.
