SBI to Sell Stake in NSE

State Bank of India and its subsidiary, SBI Capital Markets, are planning to sell a combined 1% stake in the National Stock Exchange through the proposed NSE initial public offering. SBI Chairman C.S. Setty said SBI intends to sell a 0.65% stake, while SBI Capital Markets will offload 0.35%. SBI currently holds a 3.23% stake in NSE, while SBI Capital Markets owns 4.33%. The stake sale is expected to be part of the proposed ₹30,000 crore NSE public issue.

Setty said there are currently no plans to monetise stakes in other subsidiaries in the near future. He also referred to SBI’s recent sale of around a 10% stake in SBI Mutual Fund along with its foreign partner Amundi. Meanwhile, SBI expects its mortgage portfolio to cross the ₹10 lakh crore milestone during the current quarter, highlighting continued growth in its housing loan business.
