Shares of One97 Communications, the parent company of payment aggregator Paytm, surged sharply on Monday. The stock gained 9.15% on the NSE to trade at ₹1,573.50, rising by nearly ₹131 in a single session. The rally came even as broader domestic equity indices remained largely flat, drawing attention to Paytm’s strong performance.
Global brokerage firm Bernstein raised its target price for Paytm from ₹1,500 to ₹2,200 while retaining its ‘Outperform’ rating. The brokerage said the stock could gain more than 52% from Friday’s closing price. Bernstein also expects proposed MDR charges on UPI transactions to improve Paytm’s net payment margins by 3–4 basis points, potentially lifting its earnings estimates for FY30.
