Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, is rapidly expanding its footprint in the electric vehicle (EV) market. On Wednesday, the company announced that it has sold 30,000 electric SUVs in just the last seven months, averaging one EV sale every 10 minutes.
Mahindra aims to strengthen its dominance in the growing domestic EV market. As part of this strategy, the company launched its XEV 9e and BE6 electric SUVs last November. Marking the first anniversary of these models, Mahindra revealed that nearly 65% of its EV SUVs are actively driven on weekdays, reflecting the strong customer trust and high usage rate.
The company also highlighted that 80% of the buyers are first-time vehicle owners, showing that Mahindra’s EVs are pulling in a new customer base with modern design, performance and affordability.
To keep pace with the rising demand and boost EV adoption, Mahindra announced a major infrastructure push. By the end of 2027, the company plans to set up 250 fast-charging stations equipped with 180 kW chargers, offering over 1,000 individual charging points across India.
Mahindra emphasised that strong charging infrastructure is crucial for India’s expanding EV ecosystem and promised to speed up efforts to meet customer needs.
