Smartphone manufacturing companies are reducing jobs across several departments as part of cost cutting measures. Major layoffs are being reported in marketing, offline sales, and administrative divisions due to rising raw material costs and declining sales of entry level smartphones. Staffing agencies estimate that corporate and commercial workforce numbers have dropped by nearly 12 to 15 percent over the last six months.
OnePlus reportedly laid off around 60 employees from its offline network team. Realme has asked area business managers to move to distributor payrolls. Employees working in field operations for Xiaomi and Transsion Holdings, which owns Infinix, Tecno, and Itel brands, are also facing job cuts.
