Infosys, the Indian IT giant, has responded to its suspension from the US Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme, stating that it does not expect the decision to have a material impact on its business operations. In its regulatory filing, the company said it continues to invest in technology, innovation and local hiring in the United States. Infosys also reiterated its commitment to complying with all applicable US laws and regulations.
According to the report, eight major IT companies, including Microsoft, Tata, Infosys and Wipro, have been suspended from the PERM programme, which enables employers to pursue employment-based green cards for eligible foreign workers, including certain H-1B visa holders. Technology industry sources say Indian IT companies have significantly reduced their PERM applications in recent years. Notably, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reportedly filed just two PERM applications during the US financial year 2026.
