Hyderabad has achieved a significant milestone in India's semiconductor sector with the launch of the country's first Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) Pad Technology Hub at T-Works. The facility, established in collaboration with Japan's Toho Koki Seisakusho Co. Ltd., was inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The initiative is aimed at strengthening Telangana's position as a leading semiconductor destination by bringing advanced CMP pad technology to India for the first time.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sridhar Babu said the hub will provide students, researchers, innovators, startups, MSMEs, and industries with world-class training, research infrastructure, and technical support. He announced that collaborative research with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners will focus on manufacturing CMP pads domestically within the next 18 to 24 months. The minister added that Telangana is building a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem through international collaborations, particularly with Japan, covering everything from research and development to chip manufacturing.
